2013 Virgin London Marathon
St John Ambulance has provided First Aid cover at the Marathon since it started in 1981 and every year our volunteers treat thousands of runners.
St John Ambulance believes that everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them and that no one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders. However, as we receive no government funding to carry out our duties we rely on fundraising from events such as this.
You might have seen us at sporting and community events or providing support to your local ambulance service. We also help in emergency situations like the Gloucestershire flooding and July 7 bombings.
For us to provide the very best service to your community, we need your support. Please run for St John Ambulance to help us keep on running.
Having witnessed and enjoyed the support the SJA volunteers provide to the Virgin London Marathon participants, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to raise even more money for the next event.
"(In 2009) I managed to raise in the region of £4,000 for SJA and complete my first marathon in 3:56:57.
Having witnessed and enjoyed the support the SJA volunteers provide to the London Marathon participants, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to raise even more money for the 2010 event.
Being part of the St John Ambulance Team for the 2009 London Marathon was an incredible experience and a day in my life I will never forget."
