Not only will running the 2012 Virgin London Marathon for Concern Worldwide be one of the greatest experiences of your life, it will also mean thousands of children in Mozambique can gain one of the greatest experiences of their lives – an education.

In Africa a child is 40% more likely to live beyond their 5th birthday if their mother has a primary school education. It’s that basic. Yet in Mozambique’s poorest province Zambezia nearly 50% of 6-10 year olds do not currently go to school and 2/3rds of teachers are unqualified. By lining up in support of our team, you can help Concern Worldwide to make a vital difference and give thousands of children the best possible start in Mozambique.

If you would like to run for Concern Worldwide on your own ballot place or on one of our guaranteed places please contact Concern Worldwide’s Virgin London Marathon team manager Lucy Powell, Tel. 0207 801 1874 or email lucy.powell@concern.net.

"Last year I visited the education project supported by Concern Worldwide's London Marathon team. Visiting makeshift classrooms, speaking to children, parents and teachers I discovered just how much can be achieved with our support. Although it seemed like a massive challenge I was so inspired I returned home and started training for the 2007 London Marathon! I managed to raise £3,000 and pretty much smiled the whole way round!"
